Basic Obedience

Basic Obedience establishes the communication, engagement, and reliable control that every successful training plan is built on. The goal is not simply to teach commands—it is to help the dog understand how to work with the handler in real-life environments.

Program Overview

What We Build

Ideal for young dogs, newly acquired dogs, family companions, and working prospects that need a reliable obedience foundation before moving into advanced work.

Training is tailored to the individual dog and handler. Exact progression depends on temperament, age, prior training, motivation, and the goals discussed during evaluation.

Core Training Focus

  • Handler engagement and attention
  • Leash manners and structured walking
  • Sit, down, place, and stay foundations
  • Recall development
  • Impulse control and calm behavior
  • Door, threshold, and vehicle manners
  • Neutrality around people, dogs, and distractions
  • Clear markers, rewards, and handler timing
How The Work Progresses

Training Process

We build clarity first, then add difficulty. The dog should understand the task before expectations increase.

01

Evaluation

We review the dog’s current obedience, temperament, engagement, environmental confidence, and the handler’s goals.

02

Foundation

We establish communication, reward clarity, leash structure, and the core positions and behaviors the dog needs.

03

Proofing

Known skills are gradually practiced around appropriate distractions and in different environments.

04

Handler Transfer

The handler learns the cues, timing, structure, and expectations needed to maintain the work at home.

Handler Involvement

Long-term reliability depends on the handler understanding how the dog was trained. We emphasize clear cues, consistent expectations, good timing, and realistic maintenance so the training can carry into daily life.

What To Expect

Clear Standards.
Realistic Progression.

Every dog progresses at a different rate. Age, prior training, temperament, consistency, and handler follow-through all affect results. We focus on clear, repeatable behavior rather than rushing through a checklist.
